About Eva

Untitled

I was first introduced to Pilates in 1996 as part of my training at the College of the Royal Academy of Dance. I immediately fell in love with the method as it had a profound effect on my ballet technique.  After several years of teaching ballet, I completed a comprehensive Pilates teaching course in both Mat work and Apparatus with Pilates Foundation Ltd.  My training enables me to adapt and modify the Pilates method appropriately to suit every individual and to accommodate a variety of conditions, such as pre and post natal, hypermobility, osteoporosis, arthritis, MS and everything else that makes us unique!  What I enjoy most about my job is working with a variety of individuals of different abilities, age and expectations - from professional dancers/athletes to people with disabilities - from children to people in their 80s and beyond. After having taught Pilates for many years in and around central London and after having 2 children, I now have a studio at home to enable me to offer my experience and knowledge to my local community.

Garuda

During the lockdown period, I have used the opportunity to broaden my training by taking part in online teacher training courses in the Garuda method. I have so far completed the Garuda Mat, Seated and Standing (Beginner to Advanced), Garuda Chair, Garuda Reformer, Garuda Barre and Garuda Sling training. For more information about the Garuda method, please visit:

Yoga Trapeze

Another qualification I gained during lockdown is the Yoga Trapeze. I became interested in the Yoga Trapeze, because I had the desire to decompress my spine, after having had 2 children.  The Yoga Trapeze looks like a crazy torture device at first, but after you spend a few minutes hanging upside down, you’ll become a convert.  It is a great tool to build confidence as it gives you support in poses you would normally be reluctant to try without the Trapeze. It is also a great tool to build hand-grip and upper body strength.

Mindset

Since 2022, I have undertaken Peter Crone's Mastermind courses and other offerings that have transformed my life, both personally and professionally.  I include these teachings in my sessions, which have completely transformed my ability to do what I do. I would assert that I don't just teach Pilates anymore, but I use Pilates as a way to see through the individual's movement patterns, the state of their nervous system and how that's affecting their whole being. My aim is to encourage my clients to switch from survival mode to creative mode, so that they rediscover flow - our inherit nature - which leads to true health.

About

Description of sessions

1:1, 2:1, 3:1 Apparatus Sessions

Pilates Apparatus classes use specialised equipment designed by Joseph Pilates, such as the Reformer and Wunda Chair. The equipment uses springs to provide resistance and offers valuable feedback on the body’s alignment, balance, and control. These sessions provide a more personalised experience, with a higher level of individual attention and guidance.

In addition to Pilates equipment, the studio offers a range of other tools to provide more opportunities to build strength, improve flexibility, develop confidence, and simply enjoy a sense of play.

Two of these are the Yoga Trapeze and the Solemate from The Foot Collective. See below for more information about each and how they can support your movement practice.

Other non Pilates Equipment

4:1 Mat Classes

Joseph Pilates originally developed his method as a mat-based practice. The equipment was introduced later, providing additional support and assistance for clients who found some of the mat exercises challenging to achieve.

Mat Pilates is a wonderful way to reconnect with the ground and develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between the body and gravity. It encourages awareness, control, and a sense of connection to the body through movement.
